Mr Peabody & Sherman

Using his invention, the WABAC machine, Mr Peabody and his adopted boy Sherman go back in time to experience world-changing events first-hand and meet some of the greatest characters of all time. But they soon find themselves in a race to repair history and save the future.

The opening 10 minutes of this film is good enough to be the finale of any other. It’s like a kids’ Bond movie with a talking dog as the superspy. The main problem is the rest of the film never quite manages to match that opening gambit. But I loved the time travel storyline and the related jokes, especially as it starts to unravel, and in general it felt like Bill and Ted rebooted for youngsters. Would gladly like to see a TV spin off or sequel.

V’s verdict
“I wish our dog could talk.”
